Are you in commercial real estate?

Last week I spoke at the Commercial Alliance of Realtors event in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Given that I usually speak to “residential” real estate agents and brokers, this one was an interesting and even challenging group to speak to. I shared some useful tools and techniques with the attendees that will help them in their businesses, but I also learned a lot myself about the commercial real estate industry. It was a win-win day!

As I shared technologies and great sales dialogs, as well as some powerful systems with them, it was  clear that many of them were ready to take their businesses to the next level. (And I’m not just talking about making more money.) Systems, lead generation, lead tracking and project management were topics of genuine interest. At the end of the day I offered to create a coaching program, customized specifically for them, for commercial real estate professionals, and the good news is, I’ve done it! And I’ve decided that...

I’m going to open up the opportunity to other
commercial real estate professionals!

Tyson And Herman With 10 Tips For Home Buyers

If you've just bought a home or are thinking about buying one, you'll want to listen to the broadcast "10  Things To Do After Buying Your Home."  It features a talk between Dottie Herman, CEO of Eliman, and real estate author and expert Eric Tyson on her "Eye on Real Estate with Dottie Herman" show.

On June 2nd, Dottie opened up her morning show by stating that “getting the money to buy is hurdle one, and paying is hurdle 2.” After briefly discussing the benefits of virtual home staging and enhancing curb/internet appeal, she introduced Tyson.

At the beginning of the interview, Tyson talks about his motivation; “A lot of the information that was out there frequently was written by well intentioned journalists, but journalists who didn’t really have that in-the-trenches perspective...” Similarly, he partnered up with real estate professionals in “Home Buying for Dummies & Real Estate Investing for Dummies” because of their own “in the trenches” experience.

Before he touched on some of the things buyers should do immediately after purchasing a home, he and Dottie chatted about the cost of homes nowadays along with buyer’s remorse. Tyson went on to say that people who are able to buy, should. Granted they should be “confident in their personal financial situation and employment situation.” He then narrowed it down to the following individual tips:

• Affordability - “You have to look at your overall financial situation to figure out how much house you can truly afford.”
• Personal Circumstance - Things that you, and only you know - Paying loans back, putting kids through school, etc...
• Comfort Level – He says that the decision making process should be angst free.

Where things really got interesting is when Dottie began pointing out the ten points from his book.
